Saturday Morning Improv: Improv Gym

.

Does anyone remember Saturday Morning Cartoons? As a kid they were a fun, educational, and marked the beginning of the weekend, which usually involved a lot of play. The good news is that as adults we still get to play!

Our Saturday Morning Improv classes are fashioned after the same nostalgia that got Moment Improv started in 2014. They are in-person improv intensives taught by experienced and very capable teaching artists. They are fun and educational. If you are looking to level up your improv, this is where you want to be. Class topics will be on rotation and availability by demand.

It's a way for dedicated improvisors to get some deep dive training in a particular facet of improv through the Moment Improv lens.

Improv Gym - 4 Hours | $35
Class Description:

Moment Improv’s approach to improvised scene work often begins with a simple yet powerful idea: when we understand what our character wants, the path forward becomes clear.

What this asks of us as improvisers is, will we be present enough to recognize what matters in the scene, and will we commit to pursuing it? When we ground ourselves in a clear objective, we’re less likely to get pulled off course by distractions, and more able to respond with honesty, intention, and connection.

In this Improv Gym, we focus on building that awareness through repetition. We’ll begin with a warm-up, then move into a series of scenes. By grounding your work in objectives and tactics, you’ll learn to stay present, make clear choices, and trust that the scene, and the story it wants to tell, is already right in front of you.
